"It has become our go-to spot in Wanaka since we discovered it. After long days of hiking or mountain biking around the area, it’s the perfect place to refuel. Our regular order is the sweet and sour pork, special fried rice, mapo tofu, and black pepper beef. All consistently delicious. The flavours feel genuinely authentic, portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for Wanaka. The service is always friendly and welcoming, which keeps us coming back. Whenever we’re up here for a hike or MTB ride, this is the place we head to. Highly recommend!"

"We love this restaurant. Authentic Chinese food. The sweet and sour pork is definitely one of the best we’ve ever had. All the food we ordered were freshly made and yummy. The restaurant located conveniently with lots of street parking and the environment was very relaxing and clean. Made a good meal experience before a long drive from there to Tekapo. Highly recommended if you visit the town."

"We really love this restaurant The 8 of us entered this place and it has no place to sit. We quickly put a few tables together outside for ourselves and the place was busy. The ambiance was inviting, and the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. The highlight, of course, was the food. The Sichuan Flavours were reflected in every dish we ordered. Each dish was a perfect blend of flavors, cooked to perfection. The Fish Fillet Sichuan style, Steamed Pork Dumplings and Ma Pa Tofu was especially delicious. The portion sizes were generous, making it great value for money. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the best Chinese cuisine."

"We had a great meal at Gusto Chinese the sweet and sour pork and lamb with ginger were absolutely delicious! The flavours were fresh and authentic, and everyone at our table really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was lively and friendly, though the restaurant is quite small, so it does get a bit noisy when busy. Definitely worth a visit they just need a bigger space to match how popular they are! Special shout out to the duty manage Diana such a wonderful smile and engaging with us. Keep up that good work. Look forward to returning."

"I had a strong craving for spicy Chinese food and decided to try this restaurant. The portions of the dishes were impressively large and incredibly filling. The rice servings were particularly abundant, reminding me of homemade meals from Asia. The authenticity of the flavours was evident, transporting me back home. What truly enhanced the experience was the friendly and attentive service from the waitstaff. They were genuinely kind and accommodating, even helping us pack up the leftover rice when we couldn't finish it all. Their warmth and willingness to assist made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a delightful meal that not only satisfied my craving for spicy Chinese food but also left me impressed with both the quality of the dishes and the service provided that we went back the next day for dinner after a challenging hike."

"We really enjoyed our meal here! The dishes were flavorful, well-portioned, and served fresh and hot. The spice level was just right and made the food very satisfying. Service was quick and friendly, and it was a comfortable place to share a nice meal with friends. Definitely a spot I’d be happy to come back to."

"Pāua was definitely one of the high-priced dish in this restaurant, but I think it’s a must-try since it’s so unique in NZ. I went with the stir-fried version with ginger and onion, the classic Cantonese cooking style, and it turns out pretty good! Abalone is very easy to be overcooked especially when it cut into thin slices, but the cook in this restaurant managed it well! Very satisfying"

"Ordered the abalone and scampi prawns (not live) and beef and sweet sour porks. Price for abalone is $128 or $138 and scampi prawns each for $30. Beef and pork are about $30ish to $40ish but portion are huge. These is the second Chinese restaurants that cooked well and impressed me. My damage- Nzd $251 or SGD200"
